My family and I went to Yum Cha at Century Palace Restaurant, located in Markham. Yum Cha literally means ?drink tea? but it is a Chinese-style brunch, which involves drinking Chinese tea and eating dim sum dishes. The restaurant is located inside a small mall. There are so many restaurants to choose from, the dim sum here was ?okay?. It isn?t bad, but the food was a little bland and pretty standard. Here are some of dishes we ate.
cheung fan (?? cheung4 fan2): These are wide rice noodles that are steamed and then rolled.
Phoenix claws (?? fung zao): These are chicken feet, deep fried, boiled, marinated in a black bean sauce and then steamed.
Cotton chicken(???) ? Steamed tender chicken with fish maw
Shaomai (?? siu maai): Small steamed dumplings with either pork, prawns or both inside a thin wheat flour wrapper.
Spear Ribs steamed with black bean sauce.
Exterior of Restaurant
Ginger scallion beef tripe
MY FAVOURITE ??? (haam sui gok): deep fried oval-shaped dumpling made with rice-flour and filled with pork and chopped vegetables.
Baked tapioca custard.
Black sesame roll.
Pig?s blood (jue hung. I know it sounds gross, but it?s actually really good!
